Jaquelyn Peña, O.D.

Jaquelyn Peña, O.D. is a certified, licensed Therapeutic Optometrist in New Braunfels, Texas. She’s a proud native of Weslaco in the palm tree-lined Rio Grande Valley that’s nestled on the Texas-Mexico border. She graduated with Magna Cum Laude Honors from both the University of Texas at Austin in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish and the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio for her Doctorate. In addition to delving into the diverse world of family practice, Dr. Peña has extensive optometric experience as a VA-trained optometrist with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs including rounds at the multi-faceted, in-patient San Antonio VA Polytrauma Unit.

Dr. Peña’s clinical rotations and training are focused on: diabetic retinopathy management; monitoring glaucoma and macular degeneration; assessing vision-related, traumatic brain injuries; guiding pediatric eye health, including the InfantSee Program; combatting dry eye syndrome; navigating LASIK, cataract and other laser procedures; myopia management with contact lenses; keratoconus and corneal ectasia treatment with scleral lens; tailoring vision therapy programs; mission trip relief work in underserved communities.

When the white coat comes off, Dr. Peña enjoys listening to live music, exploring local Texas gems, watching Longhorn sports, cheering at her kids’ sporting events, and making memories with her husband and their young babies.
